Saturday was the highway safety school. The weather was great. Sunshine and in the mid 70's. I had two students. One drove a rental car a 2007 Infiniti. It had all the bells and whistles. The car and the driver did a great job. The student wasn't afraid to push the car to the limit. Well, it was a rental after all! My other student drove a very clean E-30 318. He was a little more cautious. He was very proud of his car, as he should be, and didn't want to damage it. But he completed the course admirably. It was a fun day for him and his wife, who came out to cheer him on.
Sunday I had 2 students also. The Infinity student could only do the highway safety school so I picked up an advanced student and kept my novice student from Saturday. The advanced student was a younger guy in his 20's with an E-36 323. He was a heck of a driver. We spent most of the day with trail braking. This was one of the things he needed to work on. It was a little rough at first but near the end he was getting the car to rotate nicely. My novice student did well for a first timer. We had to work on the usual things, vision and smoothness. At the end of the day I think he was getting the idea. Kind of hard to much accomplished in one day but he was working the basics well.
It was a great weekend for all of us. There were no incidents and everything ran smoothly and on schedule. Hat's off to Bill Shook for a great job. Also a special thanks to Kevin. He is the new guy that stepped up to take care of pit out and keep the sessions running on time. He did a great job!
Next time will be at the Shenandoah with Car Guys. I hope to see you there!
